A very talented group of students and teacher put together a heartfelt 20+ minute mime show for public performance during Vancouver’s Olympics. Their script and performance during the rehearsal was so moving that it was difficult to hold back the tears. If anyone in Vancouver had the chance to see it, you would understand. Congratulations to you for your extraordinary work!

Tiffany + Chris, Starling Lane Winery, West Saanich 03/10/09
A simple intimate wedding is what Tiffany and Chris envisioned and their choice of venue fitted beautifully. Starling Lane Winery is a fabulous country setting where guests are free to roam and experience tasteful country grounds and wine tasting. Tranquility comes to mind. The country setting allows character to come through and time simply slows down somehow. Tiffany and Chris and company were a pleasure to photograph!

Bekkie + Kamil, elegant backyard Sidney, 08/08/09
One can not say enough wonderful things about a backyard wedding where there is very little structure and plenty of room for people to mingle and share emotions. Bekkie and Kamil were incredibly laid back and made room for laughter. For this I opted mostly for B&W and it was refreshing to do so as this is my roots.

Lindsay + Mark, St. Joseph Church, Victoria 07/11/009
The sheer enthusiasm of both Lindsay and Mark filtered through even the brightest possible sunlit day I’ve experienced in awhile. They were incredibly flexible even when it comes to family images where I proposed China Town’s alley to escape the shade. I admired Marks’ grand papa directly from Italy who questioned my proposed background, and in the end something special happened. The entire day was special due to the couples energy and how everything trickled from them and their entourage.

Victoria Day Parade, May 18, 2009
There’s something fascinating about Parades. An array of cacophony & visual over load topped with anticipation, nervousness and boredom. These images were taken from Mayfair parking lot where they spend up to two or more getting ready with last minute choreography, last minute tuning of hefty instruments, and a few embraces here and there to keep warm. The parade itself does not interest me, but behind the scenes where emotions are strong.

Victoria Highland Games
Some of these images may have a hint of humour, possibly because the Scottish have a very developed sense of humour themselves. Not often do you see strong men weighing close to 300 pounds in skirts throwing what seemed like a telephone pole as far as possible. Having a pint surrounded by this culture was most refreshing!
