Oahu, spells Aloha. The Aloha spirit is nothing like I’ve experienced before. Sheer kindness and laid back mentality lies deep within the Oahu’nian veins. Even the official and non-official photographers at the Volcan Pipeline Pro were so surprisingly casual. By the way those pro surfers who ride the pipeline are seriously nuts. If the opportunity arises to visit the lovely Karen and her kind spirited Island once more, I would wish to do an essay on the Aloha spirit and their comfort and respect towards their incredible ocean. “Aloha”!

Ericka + Andrew, Poets’ Cove, Pender Island, BC 01/02/10
A fabulous wedding of 17 people at Poets Cove to finish the season was a treat as once again, both Ericka and Andrew were fabulous to photograph! Ericka reminded me of Candice Bergman, simply a natural beauty with generous laughter. Although she and her daughter caught some kind of bug, they soldiered on! They brought their beat box to the cold wind blown bluffs drinking Veuve Clicquot, having their first dance to the laughter and joy of their mom and sister… it was truly moving and felt honored to be a part of that. Playing with image wash again is also a treat!

Kathrin + Iain, English Inn & Victoria Royal Golf Course, 08/01/09
Kathrin and Iain and Company were absolutely wonderful to photograph. Willing to try anything.. and the bright sun and heat did not deter any of them. Even if a few of the guys did nod off for a short bit, they awoke with humor and braved more of the photo shoot. For now I’m toying with some actions to achieve a softer light.. 1PM this time of year is brutally bright!

Lindsay + Mark, St. Joseph Church, Victoria 07/11/009
The sheer enthusiasm of both Lindsay and Mark filtered through even the brightest possible sunlit day I’ve experienced in awhile. They were incredibly flexible even when it comes to family images where I proposed China Town’s alley to escape the shade. I admired Marks’ grand papa directly from Italy who questioned my proposed background, and in the end something special happened. The entire day was special due to the couples energy and how everything trickled from them and their entourage.

Megan and Jason, St. Anne’s Academy, Victoria, BC 06/27/09
Megan and Jason’s wedding was a spectacular day. Having already photographed Jason’s twin brother’s wedding the year before the family and friends were familiar with me as I with them. What struck me was how the couple greeted their guests before entering the church which made so much sense! It made for a wonderful ambiance. Not to focus on the weather but can’t help it when the late afternoon clouded over where by the time we reached the Ocean the winds were impressive and dynamic… almost winter like. It was a gift after all these bright sunny days!

Moira and Sean, Church & State Winery, Saanich, BC 06/20/09
Both Moira and Sean were ready with fabulous props which made the creative session a treat! Their sense of humor priceless.
