Karen and Stacy opted for a beautiful backyard wedding in Cordova Bay. The June sun was relentless that day and I was truly grateful to be photographing their ceremony under a gigantic white canvas tent where the light was pleasant. My favorite location on their property was their stables, there I could have shot for hours! The food menu was catered by the famous Pete Zambris accompanied with Truffles Catering. Delicious! The beautiful flowers were created by Verbena Flowers and the creative and hard working wedding planner was Christine Smart. The day went flawless!

Saphina + Andrew, Brentwood Bay Resort, BC
Saphina and Andrew chose Brentwood Bay Resort as their venue of choice. A wonderful venue where wine and dine is key! Saphina and the pool environment reminded me of the famous photographers’ work of Helmut Newton. A former model, Saphina enjoyed displaying her model techniques. From a technical point of view it would have taken 5 assistants with reflectors to achieve Helmut’s lighting technique. I’m humbled Helmut!
Maryam + Justin, Brock House, Vancouver
It’s always special when couples write their own vows and design their own ceremony and from this many tears and laughter prevailed on the grounds of the fabulous venue of the Brock House. Maryam and Justin as well as their family and guests were an absolute joy to photograph! Wishing you both the very best!!!
Sarah + Daniel, Poets Cove, Pender Island
There is something special and honest about elopements. Both the wedding commissioner, myself and a 3rd witness all held back the lump in our throats. It’s a wedding stripped down to it’s bare bones. No fancy decor nor were the flowers necessary. They checked into their room at 3 and were married at 4. No fuss. They happily agreed to being married at the edge of the forest as the sun at that time was far too bright by the sea. It did not matter where and how–that’s what made it so special! They were simply grateful. What an honor it was to be their witness and a privilege to have met such a genuine heartfelt couple!
Zabeen + Jeremy, Poets’ Cove, Pender Island
The laughter from this wedding still echoes within me. Ideally the ceremony was to be held outside but the weather turned and the chairs were quickly moved inside and with humor they continued. The ceremony touched many especially when the candles were presented one by one and the couple made a wish before blowing them out. Near the cliff the wind blew cold onto their saris but that did not stop them from having a good time. Zabeen, Jeremy and Company what a pleasure it was to photograph your wonderful wedding! Happy travels to you.
Ericka + Andrew, Poets’ Cove, Pender Island, BC 01/02/10
A fabulous wedding of 17 people at Poets Cove to finish the season was a treat as once again, both Ericka and Andrew were fabulous to photograph! Ericka reminded me of Candice Bergman, simply a natural beauty with generous laughter. Although she and her daughter caught some kind of bug, they soldiered on! They brought their beat box to the cold wind blown bluffs drinking Veuve Clicquot, having their first dance to the laughter and joy of their mom and sister… it was truly moving and felt honored to be a part of that. Playing with image wash again is also a treat!

Isabelle + Johnny, Empress Hotel, 12/12/09
Johnny called late November to ask if I were to photograph his wedding. At first I was hesitant to accept any more work but his sweet English accent and charm got the better of me. Then later meeting Isabelle sealed the deal for me. Mostly they wanted images of their ceremony and cocktail. They married at the Empress Hotel at 4:30pm. The couple were wonderfully animated as were their guests! I can still here the laughter in the room.

Michelle + Berkeley, Parker Hotel, Palm Springs, CA 11/27/09
It rains .7 inches in Palm Springs (on average) during the November months and is never really cold. Yet those .7 inches of rain happen to fall on Michelle and Berkeley’s wedding day minutes before the ceremony which was rehearsed beautifully the day before. My favorite image of Michelle is when she is looking up at the sky as it summons the entire story. Light falls quickly and those 15 minutes flew by fast before it was pitch dark! Shame because the grounds of Parker Hotel are visually stunning with countless themes–a photographer’s paradise! What impressed me most were the 100 guests that followed the couple for their destination wedding… very very moving. I can also see why they are loved.

Kiyomi + Matt, Long Beach Lodge Resort, Tofino 11/14/09
Relentless rain and genuine beauty come to mind when I think of Kiyomi and Matt’s intimate wedding at Long Beach Lodge Resort. Indeed one of my favorite venues on the West Coast. The elements of the West Coast is inspiring for the lens. Kiyomi whom I call my Channel Girl was an absolute sheer joy to photograph! The rain poured in layers like sheets of corrugated aluminum and no one was phased. We had no more then 15 minutes out on the beach before my camera was soaked. Thank you Félix for holding the umbrella. Kiyomi barely cold, would have kept on! The couples’ excitement and energy ruled over all rain drops. Kiyomi and Matt, thank you for all your trust and gratefulness. It will be an honor to keep in touch.
